Most people think that becoming a writer and selling your books is rocket science. Well, it's not quite like that if you know what you are doing. Here is a simple step by step guide on how to write your own books (fast) and sell them on Amazon.

The plan has to main components :

  • technical aspect of writing and self-publishing your book on Amazon
  • how to write a valuable book without spending months

First, this method will eliminate the marketing promotion need because Amazon will do that for you. Amazon is a big site, with huge traffic, and it's in their best interest to sell your books because they make money from it. Also, Amazon huge network of affiliates will take care of the extra promotion needed.

So you will have to focus on writing your books.

A. Writing and Self-Publish on Amazon - Technical aspect

You will use www.createspace.com (an Amazon division) to publish your books. After they review your book they will send you by post a proof copy that will cost you 2-3$. After you receive the proof copy log in to your createspace.com account and check the box that you are satisfied with the proof copy and your book will be available on Amazon in about 1 week time.

After is published you will have to get some reviews, post in forums or communities that you give free pdf versions of your book in exchange for reviews. Or use createspace.com forum to ask for reviews.

How to design your book : play with cost calculator to get the best ration of price-costs, which usually mean selecting black and white format, paper color white, etc. Get the cheapest variant, with a color cover.

Software to use for making your book in desired pdf format : MS Word and convert to pdf with Primo pdf (free) or directly in Photoshop (free 30 day trial).

This part is easy, the hard part is creating the content for your book.

B. Creating content for your book to be published on Amazon

I will give you 2 directions :

1. Making books with ideas or bullet books. You will write a short idea/advice/step on each page, filling the rest with some nice graphic.

Examples :

  • 56 ways to make your child talk early
  • 24 steps for a profit making online store
  • 32 things to avoid when launching your local business
  • 50 ideas for a nicer flower garden
  • etc

But where to get this ideas ? And what subjects to tackle for best results ?

First, look at what is selling and think how many people can use your book. So write for normal people. Don't write a book about "how to make a better rocket shop" because there are few people interested in that. Only tackle weird ideas only there is no book on this topic.

Where to look for ideas to put in your book :

  • small niche forums
  • yahoo groups
  • facebook groups

Compile quality posts in to your bullet type book. Never ever look for ideas in article directories or MFA sites.

2. Make books with opinions on historical events

What's that ? Well ... let's say we pick a shady moment from USA history : president Kennedy murder. There are 1,000,000 personal opinions about that. Why not select 64 cool ideas and make a book like "Top 64 funny reasons why -historical event related".

Gathering data is easy and fun, you can make such a book in 1 week. If you sell 2-6 copies per week (and you will sell even you don't promote at all) you will make 200$ per month residual income all your life.

And remember :

  • your worse enemy is reading methods and not taking action.
  • nothing is hard once you start working on it.
