Blogs and Market Selection PDF Print E-mail
Search Engines Marketing - Blog and Auto-Blog
Saturday, 13 March 2010 10:10

A lot of people get stuck here trying to find the perfect niche to target. When I’m looking tostart a new autoblog, I look for one thing: ACTIVE MARKETS

I will only ever create autoblogs in “active” markets - a market full of activity; thousands ofdaily searches, loads of ads, plenty of forums etc. Basically, a market with a lot of trafficaround – go for the biggest you can find and don’t worry about competition (in fact, themore competition the better!).

You want to make sure there’s a lot of competition in a particular market – usually a goodindicator as to how active a market is. I also always like to check how much advertisers arespending in a particular market. It gives me an indication as to how much money is floatingaround. A good way to check this is to sign up for a Google AdWords account. Once you’rein, click on “Tools” and then “Traffic Estimator”.

Type in the main keywords related to yourmarket, add all countries and click “Next”. It will show you the average cost per click forthose keywords and will give you a good indication as to how profitable a niche can be.

You may also want to check to see if there are other blogs in the market – the more thebetter since it means more content for our autoblogs.

Examples Of Good Markets:

 Health
 Sports
 Technology
 Design
 “How To’s”
 Anything Hollywood related
 Gossip
 TV Shows
 Movies
 Sports
 Music
 Online games
 Photography
 General “fun stuff”

Examples Of Bad Markets:

 Flowers
 Birds
 Any relatively “inactive” market

It’s hard to give you a structured method for selecting a niche so I’ll just let you know what’s workedfor me. Feel free to “steal” my niches, there’s plenty of room for more people – by definition themarkets we target can’t be saturated!
