Auto Blog Tutorial Guide 2010 PDF Print E-mail
Search Engines Marketing - Blog and Auto-Blog
Friday, 26 March 2010 11:12

This is complete tutorial on how to choose, build, drive traffic and monetize an auto blog. This method works. Auto Blogs is not easy task. Most people think that throwing Wp-O-Matic on a blog is auto blogging. It's not.

Several plug-ins  for Wordpress  work together  to create an  online article grabbing,  tweaking, and posting machine that can, when modified to fit  the  needs of the individual, will look exactly like  the individual is, in fact, the poster.

The power of auto blog stay in numbers. Low maintenance, high number of blogs = Income. Because you will create more than 1 blog you must prepare an automated style macro for each task.

Create a folder Autoblogs Setup. First we need to gather the plugins for WordPress in a subfolder, let's call it Autoblog Plugins. Create a file for logins and a file for important info. You don't want to waste minutes looking for information, time efficiency is one key to success in autoblogging. Create a file for emails/passwords and for twitter logins.

Best way for install auto blogs it's to setup a folder with a WP install and all plugins/files needed. Zip after completion and upload/unpack and fast setup.

Robots.txt:

Sitemap: /sitemap.xml
User-agent: *
Disallow: /wp-content/cache/
Disallow: /wp-content/themes/
Disallow: /wp-content/plugins/
Disallow: /wp-admin/
Disallow: /wp-includes/
Disallow: /wp-login.php

Once  the code   file  is created, create a txt file  within the main Autoblog Setup folder entitled Pinglist that will be used, surprisingly enough, to hold your pinglist.

Create  a .txt  file  entitled Keywords within the main Autoblog Setup  folder.  You’ll  never  guess what  this  is for.  That’s  correct, keywords. Moving on.

Folders and text files aside and completed, it’s time to move on to the meat of  the  autoblogging operation. Create  a PHP  file  entitled Functions.php within the main Autoblog Setup folder.  It will contain the following code:

<?php
if ( function_exists('register_sidebar') )
register_sidebar();
?>

Go to wp-content  then delete the plugins folder.  Replace it with your own  plugins folder. Once you set up  your plugins folder, put all the plugins you  will  need into it and unzip them all simultaneously. Remove the original zipped files. The following are the files that I use for basic autoblog setups, and they work together like  a charm:

About Me widget
Advanced Excerpt
Akismet
All-in-One Adsense and YPN
Caffeinated Content for WordPress
Global Translator
Google XML Sitemaps
MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer
Platinum SEO Pack
Privacy Policy

Go   to  Settings  >  Permalinks  and  set  your  permalinks  to Custom:/%postname%/. That way, the name of your post will  be  the customized permalinks at all times.

Go to Posts > Categories  and create about eight to nine, if not more, relavent  categories. The more categories you   have in your Posts > Categories folder, the better.

By now, at least two of your future  autoblogs should have their plugins installed. Go to them. Select and activate all of them. Update any  out  of  date ones that  you   may  have  possibly missed. Then activate the other two autoblog's plugins as well.

Go to Settings > MaxBlogPress ping optimizer and activate it by putting your name and email address into the necessary fields. Copy and paste your pinglist from your  pinglist file  into the box, set the settings to where it will  only post 1 time every 120  minutes (two hours) or so. This is implemented in order to control the possibility of excessive pinging, which may alert the administrators.

Go to Tools > WP Videotube and click  on the link at top that says here to edit your  template. Delete  the {video_description}  line and edit your height and widths to around 320x240. These are just some arbitrary numbers. You will need to make the dimensions smaller on some templates. To fit the necessary space given.

Once  WP Videotube  is completely configured for the time being, configure CC under the Settings > CC link. Nice, short, easy step.

Go to Post > CC Management and run it at least once per autoblog so that you  have some content on your site to play with while editing your themes/widget/codes.

After that step is complete, go to themes, choose your theme, and activate it. Edit the files of your theme with your Adsense publication numbers, if applicable and necessary to your autoblog’s theme.

Go to widgets, and edit your sidebars. You  will  want to add your global translator, text, tag, and recent posts in the very least, but mix it up  from blog to blog by adding different others as well.  For the text one, use it to put Adsense code in your sidebars. I use the old Adsense Code   Generator   from  http://oldadsensecode.com/Default.aspx for fast  code   generation  when  necessary. One  can   also  be   found  at http://www.eblogtemplates.com.

Click  on sidebar.php and at the top where it says <ul>, begin the list of one of the  sidebar contents and add the following line right below  the sidebar contents:

<?php if ( !function_exists('dynamic_sidebar')

|| !dynamic_sidebar() ) : ?>

Then find the close tag and add this right above it:

<?php endif; ?>

That completed, edit the functions.php file to include this:

<?php
if ( function_exists('register_sidebar') )
register_sidebar();
?>

And if your theme does not have a functions.php, add the one you  have in your Autoblog Setup folder to it via your ftp client. As some themes have two sidebars, make sure that you  are putting that line above the proper sidebars’  end list to ensure that  your themes will not contain errors.

Go to Settings > Global Translator and adjust the settings so they look  better in your theme as it sometimes does not look  correct. Try  the div  option first, and if that does not work, go to the Tables option with the option to show five to seven flags per row.

Go to Settings > Sociable Option and configure those options the way you  like.  I take it a step further and only have a few  key  main ones and then I step it up  a bit by adding random others to mix it up nice and well.

Go to Settings > Adsense and configure your Adsense settings (pretty straightforward). I set up  mine to only show the 300 x 250 and 468 x 60 ads in the top left or top center parts of my posts with around  five   to  seven  pixels  of  space  between  the  post and  the advertisement.

I then take a nice look at the themes, and see if it will look better with advertisements not showing on the front page, and click  that option if it does. Otherwise, just save your settings in Settings > Adsense.

To make picking the colors easier, just open up  Themes > Editor in another tab and  after  that view the CSS file  for the color  scheme. Either that or choose the file  that  contains the advertising units. If they happen to be  Adsense-ready  themes, take and  use  the colors from there.

Go  to  Privacy  Policy and  configure it  to  your  personal  and business liking. I  don't like  to have the links shown in my  privacy policy,  and therefore I  updated my  first  options to show no links. Then I have it generate a page of privacy policy just for me.

Go to SEO Post Link and activate the settings in that section as well.  A quick and easy step to make you  feel good about the prospects of your autoblogging journey that lies just around the corner.
