Reports show that MSN Ad Center conversions are the biggest, beating AdWords and Yahoo by large margins. This is a not a very known fact, and because of this "silence", many affiliates and vendors are having a joyride with less competition than the outrageous AdWords average bids :D

Lets see how you can even more money with MSN Ad Center, without having to pay X,XX for a click. I will start with the basics and in the end i will show you some methods to make excellent conversions with very scalable techniques.

First you must have a niche to target, and a product (yours or affiliate) to sell. Keyword research is still done with Google's Keyword tool, still the best in town. Search for your keywords on Google, with quotes. This niche discovery thing is not the main subject of this guide so i will skip it. You can search for niches based on your ideas floating in your brain or you can use a niche finder search software (like Niche Finder), anyway, in the end, preferably your niche has over 20,000 searches per month and pages in Google for key phrase under 3,000,000, searching with quotes.

If you don't have a product to sell search for the best products in the niche and check if they have affiliate programs or use affiliate platforms like ClickBank, Click2Sell, etc.

A good rule is to sell a good product in a good niche, not whatever products you find in your most liked aff platform (like ClickBank).

How to check if a niche is profitable ? Look in Google Adwords, with Ad Preview and Keyword External you can determine how much people pay to show ads for this niche. The higher the prices, the more profitable the niche is. Don't worry about Adwords prices :D we are going to MSN Ad Center ...

How to pick the best converting keywords now... There are some basic rules for "best converting keywords", you can find them scattered on all PPC forums :

  • they are not the cheapest
  • often have low search volume
  • they are very specific (targeted on a problem/solution)
  • often they are questions
  • or answers to problems

Another good rule : never ever do anything big from the start. Test everything. Test if the niche is profitable. Target 5-10 keywords for a small test run. Anyway, in the end, you will make most of your sales from a small amount of keywords.

Another tool for finding good keywords from a product is to check your vendor site with http://www.google.com/sktool/

Landing page or direct linking to vendor ?

From what i saw and what i have read in various "secret" reports, direct linking in MSN Ad Center works better that using landing pages. Anyway, you can split test and check what works for you.

Hint : you should aim for no2 - no5 spots in MSN Ad Center and you should use some sell lines from your vendors sell page, if it's a good product than probably the sell pitch is written by a top copywriter so take advantage of that. Combine the sell pages lines with wide keywords.

Method to improve your keywords conversion : put your keywords in google search, look for ezinearticles result on the first page, if there are any go to that article and visit the website in the result box. If the article is old and the website still active than you can be sure the product sells and you can borrow some keywords used in the article.

Method to check long running ads : if an ad is running on Adwords for 1 month you can assume is profitable so you can simply copy them to MSN Ad Center. But how you can find for how long an ad is running ? With SpyFu, a great tool for spying on your competition.

Method to improve selection of profitable keyword : check Google Trends, if it's raising for past year it's even better.

Method to select trendy growing sectors (and sell products related to them) : check raising industries at http://www.investools.com/

Check demographics for your products at www.quantcast.com , tune your MSN Ad Center ads for those results.

One final word : traffic from MSN Ad Center has the best conversion rate but it's not in high volume (you can't have them all :D). So diversify ... you should become an expert at picking niches, borrowing success ad lines and use them in MSN Ad Center, test them , all in under a couple of hours. Rinse and repeat!
